Letter to a Friend......

"Ha...Do you send this letter out like so many people send a mass Christmas card during the holidays?! 'Sugar' could be anyone...and the info contains nothing personal about me...I have to ask, cause I sometimes wonder what I've done to deserve such nice lengthy letters, especially when I'm not so great at returning replies, and because I am still relatively 'new' to your 'life'. So, do you?! Send the same letter to more than one person?! I'm just trying to gain some perspective here. It would not bother me if you do, I'm just curious.

Forgive me for being a bit cynical this a.m. I have gathered around me some books that I find myself referring to again and again (the titles are self-explanatory), to ease the sting that comes with accommodating someone who thinks he is without fault, while others are to blame for everything that is wrong in his life. I suppose that's what you get when you are a super-enabler!!! I don't have to read the books again to know what I need to accept. I need to deal with the person once and for all and reclaim my life and space.

On a lighter note (kind of), my daughter arrived Tuesday morning in the wee hours, after driving most of the night to get here. She's here to see my counselor to discuss 'father-(and perhaps mother-)issues', and also to see a surgeon who is a breast care specialist. Did I say 'lighter note'?! Okay, the light note is having her here....things will be even lighter if the issues she is dealing with are resolved. She'll be here a week. Hopefully, we will have some fun in the process. If all goes well, we'll go out this weekend, maybe we'll find a place where she can sing for me. That would make life pleasant!!

The work on your house is looking great!! Very nice windows you've installed there!! I'm sooo envious! My house is rotting around me....what I wouldn't give for such a 'perfectionist' to be available to renovate for me. Perhaps what I really should say is, I would love to have the 'means' to hire someone who is such a perfectionist. I can't complain entirely, though. I do have a great painter who is very much a perfectionist, and he is going to paint my front porch once the rain lets up, and when then he will paint the interior of the other house I own....unless I can convince the ex to follow up on his promises to leave the house in rentable condition. Anyway...

The car is at the dealership, and I believe I've finally convinced the 'powers that be', that I've purchased a new car with a rather significant 'glitch'! We're now keeping a 'history', and if todays repairs don't take care of the problems, I believe it's time for the car to be recalled. I'm almost wishing for this....barring a 'fatal' accident!!! We'll see!!!

I've still not paid my cable bill because of the continuous interruptions to my service. I think they now understand that as a consumer, I like to receive what I pay for. As with the car, the problem does not seem to manifest when a 'specialist' is available....go figure. I think even if these problems were glaring at them, they would not know what to do with them!?! Nor do I....I'm NOT the 'specialist'....What's a consumer/girl to do?!?!

Moving to a remote island sounds tempting....leaving the 'baggage' behind. Maybe I should say 'trappings'?!? You get the pic?! Sigh!!

So begins the day. I've got my second day at 'work' ahead on my new 'job'. It does not seem like 'work', since this is what I spent my married life doing....grocery shopping, washing dishes and clothes and bathroom countertops and baby's bottoms, among other things that one finds to do around a home...and typically to a man, women who are 'stay-home moms' don't really 'work' anyway!!! It's just what we do, huh?! It's what we are 'intended to do'...it's 'second nature' to do so. Men are the ones who go out and 'REALLY work', right?! Amazing, I finally found someone who is willing to PAY me for what comes so 'naturally' to me!!! Go figure!!!

Now, speaking of mass mailing....this sounds like fodder for a blog entry to me (let me check to confirm that I did NOT include your name at the top of this letter...if not, I'm safe)!!! Leave it to a woman to find a way to 'kill two birds (oops! that takes on a new meaning now that I have 'Kanoni') with one stone'. Didn't the 'Beatles' refer to women as 'birds'...yup....so maybe if it's true that you do 'mass mail' your letters, then this concept will apply to you as well, and I would have to withdraw from taking credit here.

Well, time to get my day off to a start....well, a different start. You asked.....there you have it!!. As for the weekend, I do hope to put this behind me and just breathe!!!

Have a great day!!!! :))

Oh..the book titles?!?! The Way They Were (Dealing with Your Parents' Divorce after a Lifetime of Marriage) by Brooke Lee Foster, The Verbally Abusive Relationship (How to Recognize It and How to Respond) by Patricia Evans, (How to Find Relationships That Are Good for You) Safe People (and Avoid Those That Aren't) by Dr. Henry Could and Dr. John Townsend, and last but not least, Overcoming Compulsive Hoarding (Why You Save & How You Can Stop) by Fugen Neziroglu, Ph.D., ABBP, Jerome Bubrick, Ph.D., and Jose A. Yaryura-Tobias, MD.

BTW, maybe YOU should begin a blog?!?! Have you ever considered?! I'm sure there are plenty of people who can relate to your home renovations, and who may also learn a thing or two from your 'perfectionist ideas'. I'd help you as a 'blog-momma', and add you as a link for starters?! What'da ya think?!?!"
